Transforming Active Transportation in the Coachella Valley

Welcome to the CV Link, a revolutionary new concept in active and alternative transportation. Led by the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG), CV Link is an award-winning plan to provide access for pedestrians, bicyclists, and low-speed electric vehicles (including golf carts) on a dual pathway that largely parallels Highway 111, the busiest corridor in the valley. CV Link will enable healthier lifestyles, spur economic innovation, and make the Coachella Valley a more sustainable and appealing place to live, work and play for many generations of residents and visitors. It will bring national recognition to the Coachella Valley as a leader in environmentally friendly transportation. As bicycling and walking become more popular modes of transportation and recreation, CV Link will help to reduce deadly conflicts with motorists as well as provide a safer connection to schools, employment centers, public spaces and many valley attractions.

CV Link Open Segments

The first segment of CV Link opened on February 23, 2018 stretching from Ramon Road in Cathedral City to Vista Chino in Palm Springs. Another segment is open near Demuth Park in Palm Springs. In 2020, construction began on 20 miles of CV Link with the first 3.5 mile segment being completed in the City of Palm Desert spanning from the popular Bump and Grind trail to the College of Desert. Construction continued in the spring of 2021 with the groundbreaking of Promontory Point – a signature access point that provides shade, seating, lawn area and most importantly a bridge over the stormwater channel that links the two cities of Indio and La Quinta with a safe way for bicyclists, pedestrians and low-speed electric vehicles to travel between the two cities and connect to points throughout the Coachella Valley.

Sorry I can’t combat climate change. It’s a natural progression of the earth mostly due to the sons radiation and the receding ice age that began 10,000 years ago if we think for a minute riding some bicycles around is going to change with the sun can change in instant we’re getting ourselves.

Cruise ships burn the equivalent of driving 85,000 cars a day. Riding a bike for a few hours isn’t going to help off set that. But get out and exercise it’s good for you but please stop acting like individual cars are going to make the difference when thousands of cruise ships and private jets are never going to stop.
